The IELTS tests are held in Perth every month, and students must register at least two weeks in advance. Further information on the IELTS exam dates.
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) tests the language ability of students who want to study or work in an English speaking environment.
It is one of the tests accepted for university entrance in Australia and a number of other countries.
The examination tests the four language skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking through two different modules:
- Academic: for candidates wishing to join tertiary institutions in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
- General Training: for immigration purposes and/or for studying in TAFE. The listening and speaking tasks are the same for the two modules, but the reading and writing tasks are different.
IELTS exam preparation is offered as an intensive part-time mode (five hours per week) as an elective.
Students interested in taking a full-time IELTS course should consider studying English for Academic Purposes which includes preparation for the IELTS.
