The University of Western Australia's (UWA) Centre for English Language Teaching (CELT) has upheld the University's tradition of providing high-quality face-to-face teaching for over 30 years. Our teachers have degrees and specialist qualifications in English Language Teaching and our approach to teaching and learning gives students many opportunities to practice English and learn about life in Australia.
During this unprecedented time, UWA CELT has successfully moved its classes online. Our live (Australian Western Standard Time) classes offer the same high-quality content as our face-to-face courses on campus.

Choosing an online English course
UWA CELT provides a range of English courses for learners of different levels. The Centre offers English language students a mixture of formal, academic and conversational English. Wherever you are in the world, you can access UWA CELT's online courses and study in real-time. Term dates follow the usual intakes. Choose a course to best suit your goals and English ability below:
Your online English language pathway to UWA
If you have met the academic entry requirement into a UWA degree, but still need to satisfy the English language competency, you may be eligible to enrol in UWA CELT's Bridging Course, which is now being offered online. This program will provide a direct English pathway to most degree programs at UWA; a 70 percent pass will meet the English competency requirement for most undergraduate and postgraduate courses that require an IELTS of 6.5 with no band below 6.0 (some courses have higher English requirements). Results from the online Bridging Course will be valid for admissions purposes at UWA for two years.
Students will need to meet the English entry requirements for the Bridging Course, to receive a package offer for their English and degree program. UWA CELT can package a language course with an undergraduate degree, a master's degree (coursework, professional and research) as well as a research doctorate (PhD).
Online Study Tours
UWA’s Study Tours have 15 years of experience in designing courses for international universities, high schools, corporations and Government sponsored professionals. During the pandemic, the team are able to move their programs online for groups of participants. The main goal of UWA Study Tours remains unchanged; to deliver a rich and fruitful program whilst providing a professional and friendly service.
If you are interested in having a group of your students undertake an online program, whether that be joining an open class General English program, a closed class program, or a hybrid class program (AM open class plus PM closed class), please reach out to our Study Tours Manager, Mr Matthew Kettell.
