General English classes are for learners from elementary (beginners) to advanced levels.
Business English and English for Academic Purposes classes are the path to all other English language programs at UWA.
While learning about Australian life and society, the five-week General English teaching modules help students to develop a variety of useful skills including:
- everyday reading
- writing
- conversation and discussion
- listening and pronunciation
- the accurate use of grammar and vocabulary.
Business English classes
Business English classes are for learners from upper-intermediate to advanced levels who want to develop their English language ability for business and employment.
Each of the five-week modules uses topics of interest to students:
- tourism
- marketing
- international business.
Business English teaches you to:
- use business vocabulary
- listen and read in business situations
- write reports, letters and other forms of business communication.
During this course you will also learn how to communicate effectively in business and social settings and understanding cross-cultural business protocols.
English for Academic Purposes classes
English for Academic Purposes classes are for learners from upper-intermediate to advanced levels who want to develop their English language ability to prepare for tertiary studies in an English speaking country.
Each of the five-week modules develop:
- listening and note-taking skills
- seminar and presentation skills
- academic reading and writing skills
- research techniques
- library search skills
- information technology proficiency
- skills for adapting to the academic culture of Australian universities.
Elective classes
Elective classes help to develop knowledge and skills and make your program even more useful. Some electives are:
- Introduction to Business English
- English through animation
- Pronunciation and conversation
- Writing and vocabulary
- English through film
- All about Oz
- Advanced listening, speaking and writing
- Introduction to examination preparation (IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC)
- IELTS examination preparation
- TOEFL examination preparation
- TOEIC examination preparation.
