Medical health insurance
It is an Australian Government visa regulation that all student visa holders pay and be registered for Overseas Student Health Cover for the time allowed on their student visa.
This is a specially negotiated premium only available to international students and covers standard health requirements.
You need a visa to study in Australia, to apply for a course and to apply to be registered for Overseas Student Health Cover.
You can study full-time or part-time for:
- 12 weeks if you have a visitor visa
- 17 weeks on a working holiday visa.
If you want to study for longer, you must have a student visa.
How to get a student visa
- To apply for a student visa you will need to have an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment from the Centre for English Language Teaching.
- If you want to apply for a student visa without the help of an education agent you should contact the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

Pre-Visa Assessment
Depending on your country of citizenship, you may be required to apply for a Pre-Visa Assessment (PVA), which can take six weeks or longer. Please contact your nearest Australian High Commission or Consulate for details or the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).

Accommodation
If you need accommodation, please complete the accommodation section of the form.
Pre-Visa Assessment
If you need a Pre-Visa Assessment (PVA), please send us your signed application form.
If you do not need a Pre-Visa Assessment, please send us your signed course application form that shows how you want to pay.
Letter of offer
A letter of offer suitable for your chosen method of payment will be sent to you.
Paying for your course
You can pay for your course in any one of these ways:
- bank draft
- cheque
- credit card
- telegraphic transfer.
If you are not enrolling through an education agent, take the electronic Confirmation of Enrolment and other documents required to your nearest Australian Embassy or Consulate.
